Question re ab workout...

I work out at the gym 3 days a week, I do 36 minutes of cardio, weights and TRX. I go Monday, Wednesday and Friday with rest days in between.
Would it be a benefit or and hindrance to do an ab work out on Tuesday and Thursday to help with my wobbly middle? I am happy with my size, I just really want to tone up my stomach a bit more. My holiday is in 83 days LOL.
Any advice or tips would be great...

Abs are visible through low body fat %, not necessarily from doing tons of ab workouts.
Based on that my advice is perfect your diet.0 -

Thank you.
The only issue I have with my diet is that when I eat super healthy I don't get anywhere near my 1200... I do not like avocados, peanut butter or any other kind of nuts so bumping up my calories is difficult and find myself eating a chocolate, yoghurt or something else to up my calories. I also have to be very careful how much protein I have because I have kidney disease.

unfortunately you cant spot reduce you would have to continue losing body fat all over the body until the belly shrunk down my biggest advice would be check over your nutrition make sure you are healthy as you can be with your eating and do more time with weights then cardio. use your cardio for a 10 minute warmup you wont bulk up females just cant so lift heavy (as heavy as YOU can) the more muscle you have the more fat burning you get. and you get that lean toned look instead of what they call "skinny fat" no tone at all.
also when you start lifting heavy you will need to up your calories and only go up by 100 or 200 increments that way you wont gain the weight and it easier to find out what calorie set you need to stay in the fat burning zone.
hope this helps.
keep up the great work and you will get there.0 -

The yoghurt part might not be that bad, but I bet the chocolate balls in the other side aint too good LOL.
Some people say if you have enough calories to eat a chocolate OR crisps OR "naughty" yoghurt then have it, but I can have enough calories to eat ALL of them...
Does anyone have an open diary of good ways bump up calories that I can have a look at.0 -

Diet is definitely the way to get abs. Eat until your hungry, make sure you're fueling your body enough for your workouts and see what happens. If you're concerned about not getting to 1200, try cooking with olive oil or adding a bit to veggies. Get full fat or 2% yogurt, without the chocolate balls! Try cottage cheese with your fruit. Drink a cup of chocolate milk after a workout. If all else fails, add in a protein shake.
As for ab workouts, I really enjoy the core workouts in the BeFit 30 days 6 pack abs challenge. There's 4 or5 strength videos and 4 or 5 cardio videos. They're found at the BeFit channel on YouTube. Also, when you're lifting, are you lifting heavy with the "big" lifts? The big compound lifts like squats, deadlift, bench, military press and bent over rows are really great for your whole body and reallyuse the core to stabalize.0 -
