I have twin teenage boys 6'1, 220 each....they are constantly trying to "bulk up" while I am trying to "trim down". I have learned to plan better and I don't deny myself anything. What they eat, I eat...just in manageable portions. That has been the key for me. Where I use to sit down and eat two or three plates with my boys, I now plan my meal and eat one proportioned plate depending on what my calories allow and how much exercise I will be doing. You are playing a numbers game, that is all. Don't think of it as being defeated by those around you. Plan ahead, be smart, and make great choices. It's all you baby!

Would you help yourself to their medication?

    Their money?

    Their clothes?

You wouldn't. So why even consider helping yourself to their food?

    It's. not. Yours.

What a good way of looking at it. I guess it's normal to share food within a family, but it doesn't have to be the case. Start viewing other people's junk food as their stuff and focus on your own food choices.

Only you have a say in what you do with your body and no one else. Don't expect or hope for support, YOU are it. Friends/loved ones and others can say all they like and it's really lovely if you have people that want to help but they aren't you and they can't control you. I know this for fact since I've survived a few things. It's only when WE want to change things that we do it. End of story so do it now. You may go through ups and downs but remember there is always that way up so take it when you can. hugs.

I moved back into my mums whilst Im waiting to relocate and I counted the other day and she had 14 different packs of biscuits, 20 odd packets of crisps, ice creams in the freezer, cake in the fridge and this was as well as easter stuff. Luckily I don't have a sweet tooth but I did have half a tube of pringles I found :-\ you just have to resist I'm afraid, temptation is everywhere. You'll get there, I had some easter egg yesterday and it made me feel sick, now I don't want any of the choc in the fridge lol. I like cooking too so I prefer to make rather than eat processed stuff.

I find eating out harder. I go out for lunch/dinner intending to order soup or a salad but then order whatever i want as im out! Will power and common sense with foods will win the battle. Don't deprive yourself of things, have a biscuit, bit of chocolate, just learn to put it down and not over indulge :) everything in moderation and make sure you exercise. xx

Hi there, first I want to congratulate you on your decision to make a change!! It's very hard especially when you don't have a good support system. I am by no means an expert but here are a few things I have learned so far:
    1. This is a journey. There will be successes and setbacks but any successes or setbacks are mine and mine alone.
    2. Forgive yourself. There is nothing to be gained by beating yourself up for a bad day. Forgive, learn and move on.
    3. If you want something bad enough, you'll find a way to make it happen.
    4. MFP has been a great support system, whenever I'm having a bad day I can jump on and post about my feelings and the feedback I get is amazing.

Feel free to add me as a friend, I log in everyday and I always try to motivate and support. Good luck with your journey, I know you can do this!! :flowerforyou:
