I was on MFP for a year and made all my goals. Then I left the site due to some stuff. Well I'm back now because I was training for mud runs and getting ready for my bikini body then blew my knee out 10 days ago. Just got the results of the MRI and have 2 tears. I go to the ortho this thursday, but I need help! What exercise could i do that won't put stress on my injury. And I'm thinking about going low carb since I'm not going to be very active. Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I feel you! Sprained my ankle last month from running and have been sitting it out. Aside from groaning that I cant run, I had to eat less as well and felt hungry at times.
First of all, you shouldnt try any exercises til you see your doctor. Dr will tell you what you can do. You might want to consider sitting out the exercises anyway, your body needs rest to heal your injury. If you go onto google there are many sites that talk about coping with running injuries, inluding the grieving stages.
I dont monitor my carbs, but try to stick to high protein to feel full. Flank steak, pork chops, lots of eggs. Keeping plenty of greens on hand will keep you full as well. Just make sure you make them tasty, this shouldnt be about deprivation. Feel better!
Edited to add if you havent done so, look at the exercises that keep you from getting hurt in the first place. Some pros swear strengthening the hips is the cure to running knee problems and other problem areas.0 -
Do you have access to a pool? I actually did something to my knee about 3 weeks ago and have an MRI scheduled for this Thursday to rule out a possible MCL tear. Since it is an MCL injury I have still been able to walk at about 2-2.5 mph pace with just a knee sleeve with a stabalizer on the track at my gym but have been doing a lot of pool exercises. Our pool has a current river that I do 30 min walking by doing 5 min with current 10 min against current and then repeating. Also twice a week since the injury have used the lap lanes to do a mile. I cant quite swim a full mile yet but I swim 1/4 mile and then jog in the water for 1/4 mile, swim a 1/4 and jog the last 1/4 and havent had any stress on my knee.0

Thanks! I appreciate your advise. I guess I'm just so afraid of gaining weight and I am angry about getting hurt. It's so hard to lose at my age so for this to happen is very dissapointing. But thanks again girl, I will look up that information.0

no I have a hot tub and have tried some stretching in there, the problem is, I can only get my knee slightly forward, but can't go backwards at all, so i am walking now after being on crutches for 8 days, but my knee has to stay in position and can't move. Thanks for the pool advise. I may look into that.0
