Frustrated with my scale

Are all scales the same in regards to plain old weighing yourself? I'm not talking about ones that measure BMI or any extra frills, just regular old scales. I have one that I only paid about $18 for at Walmart and don't know if it is that it is a cheap scale and doesn't work all that great or what the deal is. I can get on it four times in four minutes and get four different readings with as much as three lbs. difference. Between yesterday morning and this morning it says I am up over three lbs.,
So, is it normal to have this much fluctuation in your weight, or should I invest in a better scale?

Send it back to the shop and use your $18 to buy some good food or set of dumbbells. It's better spent that way.
Use photos or a tape measure to more accurately assess your progress.0
