Hi everyone!

So I have got the cardio thing down I do about 1.5-2hrs of cardio almost every day but just looking at weights gives me anxiety. I know I need to work on my arms for sure and to do more strenght training but I have no idea what I am doing at the gym when it comes to that. Any suggestions on how to ge tme started on lifting weights or other things that I can do to strength train? I'm not tryign to bulk up or anyhting just build lean muscle.

Thanks!!!

Check your local library or Amazon for the book "The New Rules of Lifting for Women." It's a great progam.

Here's an MFP group dedicated to the program. Great support!

NRoLfW is a good resource. Check out bodybuilding.com and muscleandstrength.com. Youc ans tart with body weight exercises to get form down, ut I'd defintiely suggest free weights. I'm currently doing Madcow's 5x5, and I like it. I know a lot of people here like Stronglifts 5x5, too. Focus on compound lifts with freeweights, squats, deadlifts, bench, military press and bent over rows for starters. Honestly, you could also probably scale back on the cardio, too.

"Body for Life" has a great section on strength training. But get the general book, not the one for women (not as good). The many Before & After photos of regular people who lost weight & built muscle are also pretty inspiring.
