THIS. You don't need to eat so little, especially if you are running 3x/week.

1200 is the recommended minimum unless you're under medical supervision. You need more than that, especially on days you run!

I'm sure you could eat more, I would do some checking around and see. Also, your weight loss goals may be too aggressive.

I'm similarly sized (same height, started at 151), and I have been losing weight fairly steady with a net calorie intake of 1200-1300 (down 10 pounds since end of January). I eat back my exercise calories too, without feeling guilty at all :) You don't want to eat so little!! You will be miserable and never keep it up, and your body needs to be getting enough fuel. You don't have to deprive yourself so much to see results.

I would suggest you eat more, especially if you are working out also.

Starving yourself is not the way to lose weight. I'm also 5'4" and weighed 138 and lost 14 pounds in 3 months by eating 1350 to 1600 calories a day. Please stop starving yourself and the weight will probably come off even faster! Also, I did that without doing a whole lot of strenuous exercise.

Huge salads...but I agree that 1000 calories seems to be too few.

1200 net, maybe. 1000 with exercise? No.

So at 28 years old, 5'4" and 155 lbs, exercising 3 hours (light) per week, you're burning an average of 1950 calories per day.
Losing 25 lbs in 2 months is unreasonable for you. Even if you succeed, you will need an even lower goal weight because you'll probably lose about 5-7 lbs of muscle in the process.

Try eating 120g protein daily with a total calorie intake of 1600. You should lose about a pound every 10 days in a healthy manner.

Or do about 1500 on rest days and 1700 on C25k days.

Good golly, is this for real?

OP- 1000 calories isnt enough for your body to complete its daily functions in a healthy manner on a daily basis, not including your exercise. You aren't giving your body enough fuel for what you want it to do. You need to eat more, for sure. Find your BMR and make sure you net at least that.

Is that 1000 gross calories or do you also eat back your exercise calories?
Either way, 1000/ day is very low, not really healthy
How did you come up with this figure? I used the MFP tool and have stuck to the calorie goal and am losing consistently. That would be my suggestion for u.

it's so hard to think of healthy dinners to fit... because that's not enough calories for you in a day. Please listen to the others in this post.

I like to use a calorie deficit calculator (http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php). For a person your age, weight, height, activity level (I set at lightly active), you should eat 2050 calories per day. To lose weight, eat a deficit of this:

    15% less 1743
    20% less 1640
    25% less 1538
    30% less 1435

You are definitely not eating enough!!! For a healthy weight loss, you should not lose more than 2 lbs per week. Starving yourself is not healthy. Remember - food is FUEL!!! Your organs need fuel to function.

I had the same problem coming up with dinners. What I do is buy tons of chicken breasts, pork chops, and once in a while some steaks.

Every night I cook up about 5-6 ounces of whichever meat I am craving and with it I have 1 cup of white rice, 2 cups broccoli cuts, and some weight watchers pepper jack on top. I've come to enjoy my side dish more than the meat in my dinners!

And I know everyone else has said it, but 1000 calories in a day is just too few to be healthy. Please don't starve yourself!

I'm 5'4 and lost weight eating 1800 calories. Now, maintaining 118 lbs on average 2200-2500 calories. You don't have to starve.

Trying to lose weight...Would like to get to 130 by June 1st.

If you want to be 130 by June 1 and up to 170 by September 1, that might be a plan.

1% of your weight per week is best if you want to stay at the lower weight (most people call it 1 to 2 pounds, but that's not entirely accurate).

In the roughly 9 weeks until June 1, if you watch your intake perfectly and exercise a lot, you could lose 15 pounds and keep them off. That's still great progress if you can stick with it.

I'm 5'3 and when I weighed about your weight and I talked to my doctor and told her that I was not losing any weight eating 1200 calories a day (and exercising 5-6 times a week). She informed me that I wouldn't lose eating that amount of calories and that I should eat 1000 a day, even when I exercised. I, too was doing C25K (almost to the 5K by that time) and then running 15-20 miles a week plus strength training 2x/week. I did add some extra calories on days that I exercised, but not much, and never any bread products after 3pm (per doctor's recommendation). I am hypothyroid and it is hard for me to lose weight, but by doing this, I lost 25 lbs. last year.

Everybody is different and those of us that are shorter and/or our bodies work differently are often slammed on here for not eating enough. Do what works for you, but be healthy too. Check in with your doctor and ask for their advice. Eat clean foods, nothing processed in packages or boxes. I ate a lot of salads with protein, chicken and green veggies, or fish and green veggies for dinner. Most of my calories were eaten earlier in the day. Good luck!

I suggest you check with a nutritionist who can guide you on what your intake should be for your unique set of circumstances. What works for one person may not work for another and any individual on this forum does not know you or your physiology.
