I came across this great blog post - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Azdak/view/the-real-facts-about-hrms-and-calories-what-you-need-to-know-before-purchasing-an-hrm-or-using-one-21472- The Real Facts about HRMs and Calories -- What you need to know before purchasing an HRM (or using one)
I've been feeling frustrated with my HRM (Polar F11) It's been a pain in the *kitten* to get programmed correctly (I've had it for years, but never used it due to a back injury that kept from working out which helped me pack on the pounds), and for awhile it was showing me as having burned over a thousand calories after a 40 minute aerobics video! When I get frustrated, I get impatient, so I asked my husband to take a look. I handed him the watch and manual and he went through it methodically. I worked out the next day and I wasn't sure if it was too high, so I knocked off a few hundred cals. Then today I finally read "The Real Facts about HRMs and Calories". So I've gone from a frustrated and discouraged exerciser back to a happy and excited one! Now will someone please tell my neighbors to get their kid to stop crying incessantly and to stop slamming the front door all the time?
Go Go Gadget HRM's!
So when you go shopping for a Heart Rate Monitor, remember the tips in the blog! (Man, that kid really needs to shut up.)
