Good luck. I've had two that were supposed to work from inside your pocket -- totally inaccurate. And one you clipped on your pocket. It fell and broke on second day,0

I had an Omron pedometer for the longest time (which I liked) before I got my fitibt, but I really like the fitbit a lot better. The fitbit is pretty much just a pedometer. It counts steps, calories burned, stairs climbed (if you have the fitbit one) and miles walked per day. You can also transfer the data onto their website and see how you do over time. It's really small and clips onto my pocket. It's so small that I sometimes forget I'm wearing it! It can also be linked onto here, so the calories you burn get added into your exercises without you even having to do anything.
It's also really motivating because you can add friends and seeing them being more active makes you want to be more active; at least that's what it does with me.0 -
Pedometers don't really measure calories and steps don't really equate to calories burned either. You'd be better off with a HRM to measure intended exercise.0

HRM is only any good for cardio exercise.
Look at the fitbit which you could use as well as a HRM. . Better still is the kifit. This is the Uk version of the Bodymedia fit. Look, at the kifit website but I'd search for BMF or Bodymedia fit on here to get info. This is not just a pedometer and is much more accurate. You can't use the core or link version unless you have a USA address on your bank account though. PM me if you want more info on this.

I also use fitbit now but they are expensive and I can see they're not for everyone.
Previously I had an omron walking style which I found to be accurate and pretty tough, it clipped on but also had a safety strap with a clip which saved me losing it more than once. I was going to go for the running version this time but got a fitbit for my birthday.
They are great for giving you an overall idea of your activity but for obvious reasons won't give you an accurate calorie count since they can only measure walking/jogging, and not, for example, your weight lifting or your sit ups. Still I think they can help you work out your baseline activity level.0 -

I would get the fitbit one but I only have a iPhone 4 and it's not compatible with that, but I suppose I could just sync the fitbit with MFP from my computer instead of my phone?0 -

Yea, I have an HTC Evo and it doesn't sync with my phone either, so i just sync it from my computer and it works just fine for me. I think they are working on getting it to sync with more phones though.0
