Hi all, I have been using this website for a little over a week now- but every day my calorie intake is around 750 - the highest which was 980...

I am not hungry and don't really want to eat much more- but am not loosing weight- I think its because i am not getting enough calories??

Any ideas folks??

Thanks

Tilley

Umm yeah. I'd say that is why. Your body thinks you're starving it so it's holding on to the pounds for dear life.

Try eating peanut butter. Celery with peanut butter or on bread. It is good for you and high in calories.
  • I have to agree Kwardklinck you need to eat your calories and esp if you are exercising you need to refuel your body with high protein foods such as fish, chicken, nuts and peanut (my fave), even though its high in cals and fat it's a good fat! Hope you do well

I started not to long ago and lost 2.2 pounds in one week following my calorie intake!! Good Luck!

It's nearly impossible to give you any sort of direction without more information. Namely, what is your sex, age, height and weight and how active are you?

Also, how are you measuring your food? Are you using a food scale?

If you've only been eating this way for a week or so, your metabolism is not slowed to a point where you're not losing weight. That's simply not how the human body works at all.

That said, you're not left with many possibilities. We know that consuming less energy than you expend each day will lead to weight loss over time. So if you're supposedly in a caloric deficit and not losing anything, either:

    1. You're not tracking your calories appropriately/accurately which no matter how badly people don't want to believe this is almost ALWAYS what's going on.

    2. You're introducing exercise at the same time so you've got some water storage and muscle increase going on which will mask fat loss on the scale.

    3. You need to be more patient.

    4. You have something clinical going on which depresses your metabolism such as thyroid disorder or something along those lines. You can check your morning, waking temperature for a few days and average it out and that'll give you a rough idea if this possibility is worth exploring.

Look forward to hearing your reply.
  • Hi thanks for all of this, I exercise very regularly- I have a horse and ride almost every day- plus all the usual yard jobs! I am 29, 5'5 and currently weigh 11stone 10 - I have increased my exercise over the last 3 - 4 weeks because of the lighter nights/ warmer weather. I try and drink plenty throughout the day- i dont drink tea or coffee so its water or squash.

I measure using food scales - or whats on the packet. I was actually overestimating weights of food.... (odd!!)

I have been eating this way for 4 weeks now and have in total lost 9lbs since i started... maybe i am being a little impatient!!

In general I just have cereal for breakfast 5 ryvita/ crackerbread with philadelphia for lunch, some jelly with fruit in it, then a small meal for dinner- like grilled chicken and sitrfry veg, or fish and salad...

I love nuts/ peanut butter!! mmm that might be good! Thanks
