Is a Polar HRM still the most popular?

A couple years ago when I started on MFP Polar was by far the most popular -- I had the F6 and now have the FT4.
A friend is looking into getting one and wondered if there were other out along the same line -- for some reason the FT4's are more now then what I remember paying 2 years ago!!

    I think a lot of people on here use a variety.. Polar comes up a lot but there's also these Fitbits, Body Media, blah blah.. I got a FT40 recently, I love it and it was $90. Best money I ever spent.
