Analog scales and accurancy

In general opinion, how accurate are analog (non-digital) scales? I have one at home but there always seems to be a significant difference (2-3 pounds, sometimes more) between it and my parents' digital scale, and I don't know which I should follow. This is after I reset the analog one to ensure it's starting at 0 when there's nothing on it, etc.

Most analogue scales tell me I'm 5-15lbs lighter than the balnce beam scale at my gym. Digital scales are a little bit better, but still read lighter.0

As long as you use the same scale every time it doesn't really matter. It will still show a downward trend.0
