Hunger and strength training vs cardio

Hey guys. I started doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. I've done it every day for 5 days now. I find myself literally STARVING like all day! I eat high protein (chicken and fish) and lots of fruits and veggies. On days that I just do cardio, I'm not very hungry. I have a heart rate monitor and when I do the shred I burn about 170 calories. Whereas when I run I burn about 300. What is happening here?!
