edited January 19 in Health and Weight Loss
I was working out three days a week and eating 1400 and losing very slowly but steadily, like 2-3 pounds a month. Well, when you work out and do crunches and different new things there can be soreness for a couple days, so I didn't realize I was working out on a broken bone in my foot since last july. It wasn't crippling and I just thought it was another thing on my list of sore spots.

Well I'm in a leg cast now and was ordered in January to cease all unnecessary standing and walking(nevermind exercising) and I hate sitting around and I've been gaining or staying the same since January. In February i lowered my intake to 1200, thinking it makes sense that I wasn't nearly as active so I didn't need as much. That stopped me gaining, but the scale still won't go down =[

Any advice? I do like 100 crunches throughout the day because that's all I can do. My gym won't let me in the door with a cast on even though Dr said I can do arm machines.

Btw I'm 21, 145 lbs and 5'4''

TV show on PBS, "Sit and Be Fit" might work... Also focus on the nutrition level of your food... Injury is always tough on weight loss. Feel free to add me if you need some support. Anyone is welcome to...

I ran your numbers and found that your sedentary TDEE is 1690, which means you would maintain your current weight doing no exercise and eating around 1700 calories per day.

Because you don't have too much to lose, try a 10-15% cut of your TDEE. Eat between 1450 and 1525 a day and you will lose.

Eating less puts strain on your body, which is why you haven't been losing.

Yeah it's the free gym at my college, they don't want to be liable. It's free so I don't think I can really complain.

When I started on mfp I went over 1400 a lot more than I do now, so I was probably in that 1450-1525 range a good bit of the time and I gained on "bad weeks"(going over a lot). Do I just have to push through a couple months of gaining to start losing?

If you don't have weights at home, use things you have around the house to lift like canned foods, 5 lb bags of sugar / flour, etc. Did the doctor say anything about a stationary bike? Are you on crutches? You could still get up and take a "walk" on your crutchesJust move your body as much as possible. For you circumstances, maintaining your weight is a success. It's very easy to gain weight when you're immobile. Try not to get discouraged and once you're cleared to work out the pounds will start melting away!
