Protein shakes?

Hey everyone!
I've been on my weight loss journey for about a month now and have lost 21 pounds! Which is wonderful! I was curious about protein shakes. Are they a reliable way to get in the rest of my calories for a day? Specifically after a work out. I originally just counted calories and did cardiovascular work outs, but more recently I've been doing some weight lifting with a friend. And I realize that I have not been meeting my calorie goals. Are protein shakes a reliable way to get those last calories? The one's I've had (only 2 so far) consisted of 1 scoop of Whey protein powder, 2 cups of skim milk, 2 table spoons of peanut butter, and 1 banana.

It's always best to get your cals in through healthy food but there is nothing wrong with having a protein shake post-workout or any time to get in extra protein/cals. I use protein shakes mostly to get in the extra proteins but it does help me meet my calorie goal for the day

I also use Protein shakes for my in between meal snacks. I was having a hard time getting all my calories in and had trouble keeping my weight at a constant (I kept losing even though I didn't want to). Anyway, I use 100% Whey powder from GNC. I always boost my shake with a carton of Chobani yogurt (or any Greek yogurt) added in along with the whey and milk. It makes for a less boring shake with so many flavors available. Good luck on your journey and congrats on your 21 pound loss!0
