"Not only did the experimental group consuming the majority of their carbs at night lose significantly more weight and bodyfat than the control group, they also were better satiety and less hunger!"

I dunno about you all, maybe I'm just strange, but If I eat at night, I wake up REALLY hungry in the morning..

If I don't eat before bed, I wake up fine. No tummy rumbles or anything...

    I'm the opposite: if I don't have my 10pm snack(usually a bananna) I wake up hungry.

Interesting... but I thought the whole eating no carbs at night was more about reducing insulin response to consumed carbohydrates and elevated blood sugar levels thefore avoiding the storage of fat so that when you do sleep you metabolism is burning off your fat stores and not the elevated glucose in your body? So if your goal is fat loss then you want to optimise that process by allowing the body to burn of fat and not blood sugar?

The very nature of insulin is to send signals to the LPL to store more fat and to send signals to HSL to prevent breaking down the triglycerades into fatty acids to allow them back into the blood stream. Therefore, if you eat carbs in the night, your body will not burn any fat until the blood sugar is reduced and the insulin returns to normal. So if your goal is fat loss is that not counterproductive?

Personally, in my own experience I have had far greater results when I reduce carbs at night than when I don't.

I recently started the Renegade Diet (Schedule). It's basically a daily Fast, Graze, Feast schedule. It calls for ALL carbs so be eaten post-workout and only in the feasting period. As a diabetic, carbs are my bain. I keep my intake to 100g/day and ALWAYS balance it with quality protein to avoid the BG spikes. Since I've been eating all mine at night (long before bedtime), I've actually had better morning glucose readings.

I think you have to really know your body.

Oh, thank god! I thought I was the only one. It's almost a painful hunger! So weird.

I'm the same way. I also can't fall asleep if I eat so close to going to bed.
