Do I have to run?

I run because I love it. Don't do it unless you enjoy it because it's harder to stick with something. I'd say to try yoga. It uses your own body weights and will tone, stretch, destress and just make you feel good everyday.0

keep running.. thats your preference. but if someone is asking for advice on how to gain muscle and you really dont know, dont bother even commenting. but its funny how you can gain muscle by being on a calorie deficit and running 60 miles a week... i want to meet that person, i really do
I agree. You actually can lose muscle from running....been there and personally done that.0 -
To keep from gaining back, eat at maintenance calories, and do moderate-light cardio, you'll be fine. If you want definition, consider strength training. http://stronglifts.com/ , http://startingstrength.com/ , http://www.thenewrulesoflifting.com/ . Or if you don't want to do weights, you can also check out http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/workouts/ for body weight exercise routines.0

what was incorrect??? you burn more calories strength training then you do running period... even HIIT is better then long distance bs.. if you want to be skinny and flabby then run 10 miles a day, if you wanna look like a fitness model then i suggest you lift and do HIIT thats it plain and simple, theres science and facts, pictures, people whatever etc behind my "incorrect statement'
Flabby like Mo Farah :-). There is a place for lifting and running in any fitness routine, and if you hate running don't do it! Don't claim that it's not good for burning calories though because it most definitely is. It also has the advantage of requiring no equipment, so you can literally do it anywhere.
Also, the point of exercise is not JUST to burn calories. The point of resistance training is certainly not that - it's to use calories to build muscle (which does sound like what the OP wants).0 -
running is overrated. You actually will burn more calories at rest lifting (strength training) then running. maintain a good diet, add strength training to your regime and do about 3 slow intense cardio sessions a week and you will be just fine, but remember you will not gain as much muscle on a caloric deficit, and it will be hard to do it at maintanence
Mike can I bug you for a sec. I'm not at my goal yet, but is it try that when you get to your goal it's easy to maintiain just by keeping up with weights and eating good? Or is it still just as hard. I have 15 more to lose and I bust my butt, but I love working out.0 -
Your question: Do I have to run?
My question: Is someone chasing you?0
