Hello everyone,

I've really been doing good since I began on myfitnesspal. I've lost 8 pounds (a total of 20 pounds before I got on myfitnespal) so far, but I'm really frustrated today. I got on the scale and gained a pound.:frown: I really think I've been eating less - sometimes going below 1,200 calories and I exercise at least 5 to 6 days a week. What am I doing wrong? Should I aim to more than the 1,200 calories? Just frustrated.

Debra

First of all, welcome to MFP! You will find that the community on here is very supportive.

The first thing I would say is never go under 1200 calories. Remember, food is fuel. Your body needs fuel to function. You may want to look at a calorie deficit calculator (I like this one: http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php) to figure out how many calories you should be eating to maintain (based on your height, weight, age and activity level) and then from there, eat a deficit of these calories (15 - 30% deficit). This will help you figure out what you should be eating.

If you are going to go with the MFP recommended calories, you should eat back your exercise calories.

MFP had me set at 1270 calories when I started. I have adjusted at 1570 and am so much happier and I have continued to lose weight.

Keep up the hard work. You will see the results soon!
