Any one else trying for a baby?

Hi, My aunt just showed me this site and it looks interesting, I decided I should post something because If I get a few friends here that keep me coming back to check in, I'm more likely to keep on top of it... So, Here's my story;

I married my husband in 2009, 1 1/2 happy years later (In early 2011), we decided we were ready to add the baby we had planed since our marriage. In August of 2012... a year and a half of trying... we went in to figure out why we hadn't gotten pregnant yet and found, I was actually pregnant. (Kinda funny to find out your pregnant from a ultrasound instead of a test lol) This story isn't happy tho, because in Sept., we lost our baby; at 10 weeks. Since then I've been kinda obsessed... I want my baby. But the thing is, I don't ovulate right... Why? Well, while it has not been confirmed, I believe I have PCOS, (In fact, when we found out I was pregnant the doctor was checking for it... and I've recently had cysts on my ovaries rupture, With all the symptoms on top of that were pretty sure I have PCOS). Its a condition that kinda feeds on itself, causing a hormonal imbalance, making it hard to loose weight, and easy to gain it... However, They say that even loosing 10lbs could help ease the PCOS problems. Giving me a actual chance for my baby, as well as helping keep me from getting Diabetes in the future.

While I have never been thin (180 at the end of high school) , the last year has been very depressing, and I am at my all time high, weighing 210, at the doctor last month. I have always wished to be a healthy 150, as I feel that weight would probably look best on my frame.

Oh, and another note about me, I am 24, and I have a much older husband who makes me laugh every day. <3

I am so sorry for your loss.
Ive been "obsessed" as you can say with trying to have a baby with my husband. We got married april 2011 and in my head i thought that before our first year of being married we would have our first baby. that it was going to be "easy". Well in Sept. i went to the doctor because i was bleeding abnormally and felt something was wrong. they did tests and found out i was pregnant. We were so happy, but worried about the bleeding. I kept going to get blood tests to check my levels and one day when we went in to find out how everything was doing, something felt off by the way they were acting. long story short it was ectopic and that it was ruptured and i was bleeding internally. i had to have surgery and one of my fallopian tubes was removed.
after that i became obsessed with trying. So i lost 36 pounds and what not. still no baby but Ive bought tests an tracking and hoping :)

I wish you and your hubby luck :) and positive thinking brings a positive outcome :)

Good luck. I have hypothalamic amenorrhea and I'm trying to sort it all out. I'll be married in August and my fiance and I are already talking babies. I know it will be difficult but I'm hoping I can fix the mess I've created.

Welcome. I am trying for a baby as well. We are aiming to be pregnant by next year, after our "Wedding ceremony". We're married, juts never had a wedding. I can relate to how your feeling. I also lost a child. She passed at 6 weeks(after she was born) because of a chromosomal issue. Ever since, I have suffered from the same thing, just really wanting another baby. I have always had strange cycles and ovulation, but the doctors say that I'm fine. I want to be a healthy 150, though I have never been. In high school I was overweight and fit, so I didn't worry about it. Oh, and I will be 24 soon, so go us!! My husband is younger than me though. :)

I have 2 success stories for you. Here goes...

My husband's sister has PCOS and is quite over weight. She and her husband tried very hard to have a baby, and had a pregnancy, but miscarried. The doctors told her she would never be a mom. She eventually accepted that fate. However, she decided to work on losing weight and started going to Zumba. Low and behold, a few months later, she was pregnant, not even trying! Her little boy is now 2 years old and such a cutie!

    Story #2

My brother's wife also has PCOS and is overweight, but working on losing it too. Before they were married, she got pregnant, but lost the baby a few weeks in. After they were married, they started trying for a baby and doing meds to help. During her last month of meds, she got pregnant! Now she has a beautiful little 8 month old little boy.

I wish you all the best with becoming a mom! I really hope it happens for you!

My husband and I are trying for a baby right now! We haven't been to the doctor for any tests yet because we're only in cycle 8, but there's definitely potential for problems because I do have longish, irregular cycles and who knows what else could be going on in there. I chart my cycles and I decided to get fit in an attempt to regulate my cycle and I track my food to practice getting proper nutrients during pregnancy. Feel free to add me!

I'm very sorry for your loss. You now know that you are able to get pregnant though even if it is difficult.

Oh, and another note about me, I am 24, and I have a much older husband who makes me laugh every day. <3

I'm 24 and have a much older husband, and we couldn't have kids either.

The doctor promised me Clomid if I lost 50 pounds and still couldn't conceive. I started at 269lbs. Now I'm ovulating, my blood sugar is right, and everything's in place for me to conceive naturally, which is what the doctor expected. I am diagnosed with PCOS, and it's not fun to battle with. I'm at 202lbs, and since I've lost the weight I've decided to continue with weight loss for awhile. I had two reasons:

    1) I want to achieve my goal weight for my health and my baby's health (making a full-term pregnancy even more likely), and
    2) my self-esteem was so low, that I longed for the baby to help define myself. I really do want a child, and I do believe I'll be a great mother, but I became obsessive and emotional over my husband's age, my inability to conceive, raising my step-sons, etc. When I concentrated on self-improvement, I realized that I could wait another year or two for a child and take care of myself. Being a mother doesn't define me anymore.
  • I am not trying for a baby now. But I underwent IVF twice. Finally the second was successful and I have my twins. The weight was tough, especially since all the hormone injections impact your body so much. Four years later I'm still struggling.

But if anyone has any questions for someone who has gone through the IUI (twice) and then IVF process (twice with different doctors and different experiences) please let me know. I'm happy to give support. Infertility is an awful thing. I remember so well how it felt and how wanting to have that baby was all consuming. Take care!

Our stories are kind of similar. I am 23, my husband is 34, and we ttc for 2 and a half years before going to a fertility specialist and getting pregnant with our son (we used provera+clomid+ovidrel). I went into early labor and our little guy didn't make it (2.7.13). I also have PCOS and I am Insulin Resistant. We have decided to wait to try again until I have lost 50 lbs because I want my BMI to be much lower to slow the risk of Gestational diabetes, increase my fertility, and get rid of some of the PCOS symptoms. If you need a friend who knows what you're going through, feel free to add or message me!

My husband and I want to start trying next year. We are delaying it a bit (because we'd love to start trying now) so that I can get my weight on target, or at least towards it. I can't wait to be a mommy!

    Well, hello...
  • I am not actively trying at the moment, but I do have PCOS. I have been on my weight loss journey for a while not. I am just now getting very serious about it. I have lost 11lbs since the first of the year. I have heard from a few different docs that losing 10lbs is great for PCOS but losing more is better before even trying. I am in school finally for nursing and I finally stopped pushing for a baby. I am 24 and I have 3 years left for school then we are going to start trying for a baby. I am using this time in school to really get healthy and lose weight so that when we start trying it will hopefully be easier for us or at least know that my weight is not the problem. I wish you all the best of luck!

My husband and I "practiced" for 2.5 years to have a baby. I finally said heck with it, and signed up to run a marathon. Sure enough, the day of training kickoff, we discovered we were pregnant. My "little" guy is now 1.5 yrs., and we've been "practicing" again for a few months for baby #2. I'm half-serious when I tell him I'm going to start marathon training....

You should join the PCOS groups on here for support/advice! I was told last year by my doctor that she is pretty sure I have it. I don't know what all tests are done to determine if you have it for sure or not, but to my knowledge none were done. She said I need to eat a little better and exercise, which luckly I had already started doing. I lost about 18 pounds using MFP last year and am now 33 weeks pregnant!! Now I will say, in my 2 ultrasounds you get during pregnancy, there were no cysts on my ovaries, so I really don't know if I have PCOS for sure or not, I definitely have all of the other signs/symptoms of it though. Either way, I do believe dropping a few pounds and changing some things you eat/drink should help you in the TTC process! Look up the PCOS groups on here for sure :) Good luck to you and your husband!!

We tried for years, I was diagnosed with PCOS and then we adopted. I got 2 little bundles of joy through that route. They are every bit mine. I was happy for once, and we quit "trying" - two was enough. I finally lost about 80 pounds and did become pregnant at 40! Our little "surprise" is now four. I firmly believe that I have the children I was meant to have. If I would have gotten pregnant right away I would not have gone the adoption route. My children are all "mine". They even have my personality traits. :)
Your family will happen the way it was meant to be.
    Best of luck.
