How can I stop myself running

Hello,
I have only been "running" ( i use the term loosely) for just over a week and I love it! I am following a plan that is in a book I was given as it has worked for friends. The only problem I have with this plan, it that it is alternate days, and I am struggling to stop myself running twice a day, let alone not running for a day. The reasoning in the book is that you will injure yourself if you run every day, which I do understand, but how do I stop myself running every day?!

Make the alternate day into a core or lifting day. Another idea is tie your feet together haha...0

rest days do not meant sitting down on your butt all day long.
It just means recovering from all that muscle stimulation and weight bearing activity you have done.
I wouldn't say go right to a stop.
Do a lighter type of running. Go on an elliptical instead of a treadmill (if you are using the machine).
Go for a nice long walk.
Keep it less strenuous so you get the recovery you need, but when your next workout routine happens you are ready to hit the cardio as equal or even harder than you have done previously.
No matter what, stick to a routine that keeps you 'loving' it.0 -
Just think about the injury that will MAKE you stop running for longer than a day. I got a bit over zealous with it too and it got to the point where my calves were in so much pain even walking was difficult. Don't let it get to that point and then be benched for a couple weeks (or longer) to rest them. Alternate days..rest is also good!0

Do core work on rest days, or upper body work. Or do a yoga class. Rest days are so important0 -

Me too. Calf pain bad.0 -
Rest days are every bit as important as training days. Schedule some other activity (whether it be dinner w/a friend, a nail appointment, yoga class, etc.) to keep yourself occupied on those days off.0

^^This!!
I got to week 7 of C25K but was still running or speed walking on the off days until I got tendonitis in my ankle. I have not been able to run since Feb 12 and still can't. I was out completely for 3 weeks and am now walking again but I still cant run without pain. Be careful because you dont want to deal with an injury!0
