Tips, advice, videos I've found helpful as a new runner

I have been doing a c25k program fora couple of months now, but I started without any advice. I am by no means an expert, but have learned a few things which have helped me along the way. I am still working on form, but practice within reason makes perfect.

First thing is I pushed too hard to start with. During jogging session I was going all out with a heart rate of 153-163 average for the sessions once they started to be more jogging than walking. A rule of thumb I have learned is to push yourself, but you should be able to at least speak a sentence or two at time. If you're breathing too hard to do that, probably should ease up a little.

I went to a running store and was fitted for shoes that were appropriate for my feet. I have almost worn these shoes out, and I imagine I may need a different style now as I have changed my form and how my foot strikes.

Running form. I thought running was running. Put one foot in front of the other in a rapid succession to move quickly, right? Turns out there are many ways in which you can injure yourself (and it's usually not immediate) from doing heel strikes, being upright, not having decent core and hip strength, etc. One thing I have been trying to use is youtube to watch videos of proper form, different techniques, different stretches and so on. I have found my knees thanking me for this (I was starting to have a constant dull pain). A couple of videos I have found of interest so far is:

This is what I've gathered so far, I am sure others can add to this, I hope this helps others, and I look forward to what others may have to add.
