Does anyone else "pre-condition"?

When I know that a big meal is coming, like this weekend, I will drop my calorie intake and ramp up the exercise (if possible) to get a jump on things. Like today I am eating yogurt & apples to keep 1350 calories in hand for tonight. It helps me to be able to enjoy that special dinner without feeling like I will be a whale the next morning. It also seems, for me, to prevent much gain at all.

Anyone else out there do this?

Absolutely! I log almost all of my meals in advance, and I will try to anticipate evenings out or holiday meals by having a couple days beforehand that I am under by 100 or 200 calories.

I do this sometimes if I know I'm drinking alcohol at the weekends because I tend to not log it. Mainly because I get drunk and can't remember how much I've had, haha.

I do this too. I'm going out for tea tonight and I have had a few little snacks throughout the day but have worked out what I will be eating tonight to make sure I stay under! Same again tomorrow!
  • Yes you're not alone. I tend to do this on occasions where I may be away for a weekend with my boyfriend and friends (We tend to go out eating just about every night and consume alcohol) So I watch watch I eat, and reduce my calorie intake for a few days and amp up my exercise. Some would say that its not exactly healthy, but I prefer to do it because it keeps me feeling like I'm still in control and making progress towards keeping my weight where it needs to be.

I do have a history of eating disorders so its a slippery slope for me when it comes to restricting my calories but I have a lot of support and my own determination to stay relatively focused on getting what I need. :)
