Low Carb diet

Hello everyone! ????
My name is Leonor and I'm 18 years old girl.
I've been on a low carb diet the past 5 days.
I know it's only been 5 days, but I feel that I am not losing any weight..
I am in ketose (bought those strips), but can it be that I am doing something wrong?
Should I count calories, just to be on the safe side?
I really new to this and I need some motivation to be honest..
I'm 74kg and I want to lose 20..
Warm hug to everyone! ????

Hi Leonor,
I also started low carbing 5 days ago (join the low carb forums, many more people will be able to help you there). I can't see your diary, so I can't see what you're eating. I wouldn't count calories, for the record. (I only have 1500 as my "limit" because it's mandatory to put one in so I put an arbitrary number.) What are you currently eating and are you doing a certain low carb diet or just eating less carbs than you usually would? The primary thing I could recommend is make sure that you're getting most of your net carbs (carbohydrates - fiber = net carbs) from vegetables (not including potatoes or carrots), and make sure that you're having a protein "main" with each meal. For example, turkey egg cups in the morning, tuna salad for lunch, grilled chicken with veggies for dinner. For snacks, I usually have pepperoni sticks, cheese, nuts, veggies with ranch, etc. Also, drink lots of water!! You can add me if you want. (:
Hope this helped!0 -
FYI Keto sticks can be unreliable. A meter works much better, though it involves sticking yourself and measuring blood ketones AND is a little more expensive.
My first time into ketosis took me 8 days to shed the water weight and start noticing. I had to increase my fat to higher levels (about 70% of my calories) and watch my protein intake as well as my carbohydrate intake. Once I was in ketosis and working out regularly I ate 70% calories from fat, 25% from protein and 5% from carbohydrate - all non-starchy veggies.
Unlike many people though, I counted calories. I think I would have continued to over-eat if I didn't, and that would certainly stall weight-loss efforts.
If you're not losing weight, give it a few more days, make sure your carb intake is very low (5% of calories is a great place to get into ketosis with) and your dietary fat intake is around 70%. If that doesn't help, start measuring/weighing your food and count your calories...0 -
I'm really doing a low carb diet, not just eating less carbs than usual. ????
But sometimes I just wonder if I am doing something wrong.. For example, I've read the Atkins book and when you are in the induction phase you are not supposed to eat berries - I do so! I'm not following Atkins per se, but I often think about it. What can be the difference between Atkins and another low carb diet? Do I get faster results by cutting the berries? Or is it just another way of doing things? ☺
I also read that many people notice weight loss in the first week of low carb but I don't see that happening with me.. ????
I guess I just need to be patience...
Also I do tend to over eat, maybe I just need keep a limit calorie intake just in case... ????0 -
I'm on Atkins too! (Currently day 5 of Induction.) Well I definitely, definitely recommend you tracking your food first and foremost, haha, otherwise I really don't know how to help you unless you just list what you eat on average every day. To be honest, I haven't done any other low carb diets, so I can't answer that question. I just know that Atkins has definitely worked for me (6 lbs this week, and when I did it in January it was 10 lbs). What kind of berries are you eating? If you don't have that much to lose, you could just move on to OWL in Atkins and enjoy your berries (slower weight loss, however). But if you want the "jumpstart" that low carb diets give you, then sadly you'll have to cut the berries--only for two weeks, though (if my memory serves me right)! Just replace berries with something else for these two weeks. I wouldn't worry about the calories just yet. (: I'm eating more calories than I used to and losing more than I did before; it'll all sort itself out--especially if you make sure to drink 64 oz water throughout the day!0

I did low carb to begin with, I now eat very low carb Primal. I have lost over 100 pounds in a year but I do have to count calories, my daughter doesn't. Some of us it seems do have to count 'em, others don't. Give it a wee bit of time, you should have quite a large drop after a week 10 days or so, all water weight, then you should begin to lose at a steady pace.0

Should I really focus on Atkins, for example? Or should I just do a low carb diet without a specific name?
I'm more type of doing a "general" low carb, if you know what I mean... ????
I'm trying to eat around 20g per day... Put I don't keep a record as I always think that I'm below that number...
Maybe I should do it! ????
100 pounds? That's amazing!! Congratulations!!
I need to lose 20 KG, says the doctor..0 -

Haha I will write down what I eat! ????
I have an idea of what I'll be doing in the next few days!
My family here in Norway, owns a low carb business. They take people to Greece where they teach them how to eat low carb, like a motivation trip with a few experts! ????
I think I'm the only one who is doing something wrong, haha!!0
