SAD diet being changed to 1/3 fat, protein, carbs, 10% treat

Hello Board,

Note: the information was provided to me by my doc after a recent appt.

After a recent medical convention, it was revealed the SAD and ADA diet are too high in carbs for the vast majority of Americans. These diets should be used as treatment for certain medical conditions and not recommended for the general population.

A more ideal approach is a 1/3 rule of fats, proteins, carbs, and 10% "treat" (i.e. additional fats, proteins, carbs, alcohol, etc.). Some lifestyles which I feel meet this approach. South Beach, Mediterranean, Sugar Busters, The Zone, Atkin's "maintenance" phase, and I believe Protein Power's "maintenance" phase.

Eating eggs yolks from chickens raised on a grained based diet contains the good cholesterol. In my case, I can eat as many as I want. Eggs obtained from chickens raised on a animal based feed will contain the bad cholesterol and should be limited.

Take everything here with a grain of salt. However, it appears, to me, the medical researchers are on the right track.
