I have an Assoc degree in Health Information Technology. I have not been ceritfied as RHIT but plan to do so this year. I do not have healthcare setting experience besides my practicum/internship. I believe I am qualified for at least a grade 5 since I have office experience and education. What do I have to do, kill someone?! Not serious but seriously.

it can take forever. I transferred from one va to another and it took 9 months! Submit application, wait 3 months for interview then it took 6 months for the two to coordinate my move date. patience is key!
Oh, and good luck!0 -
Are you a veteran? If no, almost impossible now.0

It's even hard for veterans with experience in the healthcare field to get jobs at a VA hospital. From what I heard, the VA is know as the "good ole boys". So you almost have to know someone to get in.0

The VA here is always hiring, at least for nurses. Why VA? You could apply to other hospitals too, and then try and transfer if you want. Experience always looks good.0
