Are EGGS Healthy?

Are Eggs Healthy? I have been killing them lately due to coloring them for Easter. As I log them I see them a good source of protein; one egg contains about seven grams of protein, of which five are in whites, and two in the yolk It has relatively low calorific value about 78 calories it is easily digestible. But when I look at my cholesterol intake numbers my body is crying. I thought eggs are good help!!!!

From my personal experience, I eat eggs almost everyday & my cholesterol levels are fine. I never eat just the whites unless it's a hard-boiled egg. I give the yolks to my dog in that case.

Opinions change on this all the time. One study shows a rise in cholesterol levels, and then the next study shows that dietary cholesterol like found in eggs do not raise your cholesterol levels. If you wait another few months, it will probably change again.

YES! YES! YES! Your body does not absorb most of the cholesterol from eggs! Plus they are a complete protien! Plus they are LEAN! Plus they are cheap! Plus they are just wonderful!

Just one source of a bazillion.

Further more, anyone who is concerned about cholesterol should be getting plenty of soluble fiber. About 10g a day in fact. Soluble fiber absorbs bile in the and prevents it from being reabsorbed in the small intestine. No meal without a few grams of soluble fiber is complete. It is easy to get. A serving of brussels sprouts will give you about 3g, an apple will give you about 2g, a serving of carrots about 2, a serving of cabbage about 2. If you get the daily soluble fiber going, cholesterol will be swept right out of your body.

I have heard for a while now that the cholesterol in eggs isn't even bad for you. But a lot of people I know do like 1 egg and two egg whites.

Your body produces around 1000-1400mg of cholesterol a day. Dietary cholesterol is just a drop in the bucket. Personally, I don't like egg yolks but I love the whites and I eat them every day. Eggs are healthy.

Eggs got a bad rep for a while, but they are healthy I've also noticed when I have eggs for breakfast mixed with some veggies I don't snack as much at work

    Yes, eat all you want.
  • Of course eggs are healthy because they are a good source of protein especially if you don't eat meat so leaning heavy on the eggs is okay.

I've never been a fan of egg yolks, but when I do eat eggs for breakfast it's usually one egg white and one whole egg. The yolk is full of good stuff for your body, and while it does have cholesterol, it's good for you. Like everyone else said, new "studies" show that the cholesterol in the yolk won't affect your daily cholesterol production.

If you like them, continue to eat them! If you're concerned, see your doctor and have a blood test.

Actually the studies aren't new and still being lied to. When they drop the RDA for cholesterol then I might have some faith that they know what their doing.

My family and I tend to eat alot of eggs, maybe because we have chickens and they are almost free. During this winter the hens were not laying much and hated to buy store eggs..they just don't taste the same! Enjoy your eggs and buy farm fresh when you can!
