Does anyone else here have hyperacusis?

I had bell's palsy about three years ago. Often with bell's palsy, the muscles inside the ear are paralyzed along with the muscles in either the left or right side of the face. During the bell's palsy the sensitivity to sound was severe. The volume of my own voice was even painful at times. While I still have some residual effects of bell's palsy such as facial synkenisis, my face is about 99% normal. The trouble is the sensitivity to sound has lingered on, and it actually went to both ears. This is a problem because there are just some environments that I can't be in with out ear plugs, and ear plugs are not always safe. The gym for example. Which brings me to my point. I would love to be able to do some weight training again, but the noises in the gym are just unbearable, and I don't feel safe about wearing ear plugs in the gym. I don't have much room in my apartment. And I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old. What is a good solution for this? I need to take up minimal space. I also need to be able to move what ever workout gear I have into a closet between uses to keep my children from the hazard. Has anyone else been in this situation? What can I do here? Lay your great ideas on me please!

I suggest buying a kettlebell and learning some workouts to do at home. Also, maybe some regular free weights? I haven't done it, but one of my friends just bought her own TRX band. It's a little pricey, but worth the investment if you want to weight train!
