What I have discovered is it is better if you put the scale away for a while. Get out the measuring tape, measure everything and wright it all down. As your diet continues, go measure yourself and wright it down and see your progress. For me it is easier because I will get on the scale and it will say the same thing. Then I will get depressed, but then I will measure myself and see I lost 5 inches around my stomach! So I actually measure myself every week and about every 2 weeks I weigh myself. I don't know I just thought id share what I do. I hope this helps someone!
