Me and some friends are starting insanity soon but we're all at college 3 days a week, we get free food from college canteen but it's not great stuff. At 'meal 2' time options would be toast, bagel, egg (fried), grilled bacon, sausages, beans, mushrooms, cheese on toast, fruit, cereal pots (rice crispies, cherios) possibly porridge although not sure.

At lunch there is a salad bar on, also sell pots of pasta with sauce, something like chilli and veg, rice, sandwiches etc.

Out of these things what could work? It's free and we're all students so not going to bring food from home if we don't need to.

The key is really portion sizes and overall calories and where possible stick to mainly complex carbs. Look for carbs on the low end of the GI index and avoid simple carbs where possible. Try and get a good blend of fats and proteins. Insanity recommend a 40/40/20 split of protein, carbs and fats. So let's say your meal is 400cals, then about 160cals should come from protein and carbs respectively, so that is around 40g of each and about 80cals or 9g of fat. Hope this helps.

    Yes, very helpful thanks!

So say: slice of wholemeal toast (no butter), 1 slice grilled bacon, mushrooms, apple (about 400cals right?) and then big salad with some tuna or deli meat for lunch? Or loads of veggies and a little chilli or something like that?
