Hey, just wondering how people prefer their grip when doing DLs. I personally prefer both hands in over grip position, but I see a lot of people using the over-under style (continental ?) what's your preferred method and why. I like to keep both my hands the same direction so that i don't have to worry about switching back and forth to maintain symmetry in the shoulders, and I find that the over under makes it feel like I am twisting a bit during the lift, which I want to avoid in case of injury. that's my 2 cents, let em know what you think.

I do both hands overhand until A. I'm tired or B. I can't lift the weight. Then I do alternating grip.
I'm told your brain knows if your grip will fail lifting a weight. I know I personally can life significantly more with a switch grip for more reps. I'm contemplating straps just to see what a 1 RM would be though.0 -
I switched to over/under recently because my grip wasn't strong enough to lift the weight I had progressed to. And, I've found liquid chalk has become a very good friend!
I'm still working to improve my grip strength, but I also know that I'm going to need straps in the near future. There just comes a point when your hands can't hold the weight your body can move.0 -
Anything over 400 I switch my hands to over under...0

I use the pronated grip for all sets leading up to the max effort set to work on grip strength. I switch to mixed grip for that last set to prevent the bar from rolling off my fingers.0

i don't notice any difference in grip strength with the over under grip hmmmmm0

I like the one over/one under grip. I can lift heavier that way. I just alternate between sets.0

Overhand with a hook grip. No gloves or chalk, I have two huge sets of callouses and I like them. I have really long fingers so they lock in really well. I just have to keep my nails short so they don't cut my finger.0

Overhand hook grip, I feel if I can't get it up that way then I need to get stronger0

I also overhand hook grip until weight becomes a factor. Once it gets too heavy for my grip I go mixed, alternating between sets.0

I'm a wimp. I use straps.
