Good Day Team, I'm calling myself GitterFitter (real name is Ray) because I need to get it in shape. Too late of a start for swimming pool season but ya gotta start eventually and now is as good as any. I must be crazy weird, but I purchase a workout program called P90X. After just watching the first disk, it looks tough and I am nervous as heck about starting it. I can barely spell P90X let alone do some of the exercises these folks do but I have to do something.
I am 52 years old (53 in June) an 5' 10" and weight about 270 fat butt pounds. I have been a "Husky" boy all my life and I must get that from my Mom's side of the family. After 5 years in the Air Force, and being in great shape, I got a desk job and have sat behind a desk for the past 28 years putting on the weight. I know it is not the desk jobs fault, it is my fault and I take ownership for that. I am a typical yo-yo dieter. In fact just last year my wife and I join 24 Hour Fitness and in 4 months I dropped 50 pounds.
I got down to 230 pounds and hit a rock solid plateau for 6 frappin weeks, got my truck broke into and lost my gym bag and membership card, and just got discouraged and quit going to the gym. After about 6 months of not going, we decided to cancel our membership and save ourselves $80 a month. I now have put back on all my weight and it is once again time to start over. I know that half of any successful weight loss strategy is diet and that's why I am here... to start counting calories and journal my food intake. My hardcore workouts will take care of the cardio, as well as walking on the "dreadmill" and swimming in our pool.
I am glad to be here in this life raft with you. I say life raft because loosing weight, eating right, and getting fit could save our lives and I for one am getting close to retirement age and I want to have many MANY good healthy productive years to travel the world with my beautiful wife Deana after we start the next phase of our life... RETIREMENT. :glasses:

Hey Ray! Well the P90 is TOUGH....I have several friends that do it. It seems to be addictive, they all want to out-do themeselves at it (meaning actually complete a whole workout without dying)! Start it, do what you can, modify it for you today and push yourself a little further each time.
I love your "life raft" statement. SO TRUE! Get Deana on here too!0 -
