Anyone doing a plant based diet

HI everyone ,
I have been watching the forks over knives documentary again and I am really interested in the health benefits .I have the book also but wondered in anyone knows off any good recipe books or sites suitable for the UK. Some off the food items are not readily available .
I would love tips and advice from anyone who has had success or is just starting out .Thank you :)

I love http://www.ohsheglows.com and http://www.101cookbooks.com for vegetarian-friendly recipes. I've also found that a lot of my favorite cooking go-to sites (like http://www.cookinglight.com) are great resources for vegetarian recipes.

The best advice I've got is just to keep track of how you feel-- physically and emotionally-- after you eat for a little while. That's often how our body tells us we need to change things or should keep going with the plan. Really tired? Maybe you need to fiddle with your carb/protein ratio. Does something make your stomach feel funky? When do you feel hungry? How much does a particular food or meal satiate you? Etc.

brill advice and brill sites .Thank you x
  • I am a vegetarian and often cook vegan because my husband can't have milk products. I do a lot of clipping and pinning from Cooking light. They have a lot of good recipes and can be very helpful. I have a vegan friend who loves veggieboards because they have great recipes and advice as well.

Tons of great information out there.

I am an 80% raw vegan... a bit different of a diet than simply a plant based diet.

Don't forget, a plant based diet can be an unhealthy diet. Any diet can be a healthy diet whether it be vegetarian, vegan, paleo, meat eating, etc. Pick something that you will stick with forever and is best for your needs.

    Thank you great advice :)
  • I often cook from the Forks Over Knives Cookbook. I have been able to track down most of the items I've needed here in the US at my local Whole Foods store. Now, I am seeing them in more and more mainstream stores. What are you having trouble finding? I'll admit, it took several trips before a stumbled on a couple products because I just didn't know where to look. For example, I found the Tahini by the peanut butter. Who knew?
It's also possible to find many items from their recipes at international or middle eastern markets, places that sell far fewer "processed" foods.
Good luck in your search and in your plant-based eating!

I'm still trying to be a vegetarian. However, I am learning I have a sensitivity to fermented foods which is making it very difficult to keep the lifestyle.
