I finally had my body fat tested today at the gym. I have been weightlifting for a few months now and I can definitely see progress both physically and in my increases in strength.
First I was weighed and gave my age etc.... and said what I do in a week to determine my general activity level. Here's my results:
Age: 20
Height: 172.5/ 5'8/ 68 inches
BMI: 18.4
BF%: 12.5
Fat Weight: 6.9 kg
Lean %: 87.5
Lean Weight: 48.1kg
Total Body weight: 55kg (with clothes on an hour after breakfast)
Water %: 60.9
Total Body Water: 33.5 ltr
Metabolic rate at rest (BMR): 1584
TDEE: 2534 (for medium activity level. Options= very low, low/medium, medium, medium/high, very high
This test was done using a. The fitness instructor said it was unsurprising that my BF% was low. I said I was shocked it was THAT low though and he explained that for extreme cases (i.e. very lean people or obese people) it gives . I'm not on either extreme end though so I'm a bit confused. I said whether to go by it as I'd expected between 18-20% and he said maybe he'd guess 14-16%. I don't know how accurate this test really was then? He seemed to trust it in some respects but when i showed doubt he said the slightly higher number
He did say that the calorie intake pretty reliable though. Is it though if the BF% may not be?
He actually went back to do some more calculations for me while I was doing my workout and came back saying that judging by how much i was lifting, the amount of time, running, extra general activity etc... he'd put me at very active perhaps rather than moderate.
With his own calculations...
BMR (25 x 55): 1375
TDEE:
- Fairly active (1375 + 50% BMR) = 2062
- Very active (1375 + 100% BMR) = 2750
He seemed pretty adamant that I eat around this amount, but it seems so much!? I struggle to make 1950 a day at the moment. Having had an ED in the past, although I'm mostly recovered this is still scarier to me than most people.
Apparantly I'd have more energy and it would benefit me. Judging by ALL of this information (sorry I know it's a lot), what would you dsay I should trust/ follow both BF%-wise and calorie intake-wise? Does the water weight etc...help to make a clear judgement?
Thanks in advance! Sorry for the length!
