We've been working out and I put him on a strict 1500 calorie a day but I am wondering if he should eat his exercise calories? Won't that make him fat?

Halp plz

Your cat should be lifting heavy and doing HIIT.

I would love to get Bouncy on the treadmill, but alas - no legs. I think he's sneaking food though because he is eating at his BMR and seems to keep gaining. Thoughts?

Your cat should ALWAYS be eating above BMR. If he doesn't, it will put him in starvation mode!

IMO, your cat should only eat his exercise calories if he vomits his food on the carpet, with one of those nice hairballs, within 24 hours. If he doesn't vomit, he should only eat about half, or only if he's truly hungry.

Mimi, the cat in my weight loss ticker below, says that if your cat ate 8000 cals a day and lifted in sets of odd numbers only that they would look fantastic. It works for her, and she's 11 years old, so it'll work for ANY cat. Scientific fact.

The calorie amounts for kitteh exercises are way off in the database. I usually let my kitty eat only 1/2 of his exercise calories.

First you need to figure out if your cat is sedentary or active. He may need to be on 1200 calories a day if all he does is nap and eat. If he attempts to play with a ball, mouse or feather on a string during the day, I think he would be moderately active and 1500 calories would be appropriate. Try recording his every move for a day and see if he really needs those extra calories.

Have you tried upping his calories a little? Maybe he's fallen into starvation mode.
