Any suggestions for good resources to do a trial of a gluten free diet. I have not been tested by a doctor but I have some symptoms that may suggest gluten sensitivity.

I just use good ol' Google. It's amazing how much info is out there. My favorite sites are blogs written by gluten-free folk. They'll have info, recipes, etc.
As for symptoms, I was having issues with wheat, but I'm not sure it's an intolerance to the gluten specifically. I have IBS, and wheat is a big no-no for people with IBS, but not necessarily because of the gluten (it has more to do with the type of carbohydrate in wheat, which is hard to digest).
Either way, I do much better on a gluten-free diet.0 -

Thanks, I did do a google search but could not quite find what I was looking for. I remember a while back seeing a 2 week plan to try to see if your symptoms subside but could not find it..0 -
pinterest and youtube has helped me the most. Pinterest leads to a lot of gluten free blogs filled with easy recipes. Another tip I will give you is shop on the perimeter of the store. from dairy, meat and produce, unless of course you don't eat meat or dairy then just shop accordingly. The inner isles of the grocery store are filled with processed food made with wheat products. Usually when grocery shopping I buy the main staples that are very flexible to make meals out of. Like spinach, tomatoes, cheeses, mushrooms, onions. I bought quinoa for the first time this week and I HATE it. That's not to say I won't find a recipe that works but its all about experimentation. I made teriyaki eggplant "steaks" last night and it was amazing. For lunches I made a bulk of chickpea salad which can go a long way for sandwiches and salads. Look on the ingredients of your spices or additives, You should not see modified cornstarch or some types of meal by-product. Rice or corn pasta is amazing but try not to rely on processed foods too much because the sugar and calorie content will amaze you at how high it is, especially if you are also trying to lose weight in conjunction with going gluten free. I am sure there is a lot more that I could add but this is a starting point. Good luck to you. Feel free to add me if you like.0

P.S I went gluten free weeks before I had my test and my test came back insufficient for sensitivity etc. So if you are going to get tested remain on your regular eating plan. Going gluten free does not require a diagnosis, if it helps you stick with it. I personally feel great eating GF so I stick with it.0

pinterest.com is awesome for finding some great gluten free recipes. simplifying a diet (cutting out sauces & gravies & the little extras) cuts out a good portion of the gluten in most people's diet.0

P.S.S soups are not always safe either or canned foods. Gluten hides everywhere. If it says on a label contains wheat or processed in a facility that also processes wheat it is best to stay away from it. You will find it in a lot of canned foods like corn, diced tomatoes etc. Anything creamy like cream of mushroom, etc you can bet there is a thickening agent like flour.0
