Cravings linked to diet?

So, I’ve been really great about sticking to my calories lately. But, I’ve had some intense food cravings for the past few days. In the morning, when I open up my kitty’s can of cat food, the smell just hits me and it’s so hard to stop myself from chowing down on the whole can! So far, I’ve been able to satisfy myself with a lick here and there, maybe a nibble, but I don’t know how much longer I can hold out!
Why is this happening? Am I low on protein or something?
Help me, please!!!!!

It does sound like you are low on protein, are your macros set at the MFP levels - as the protein is really too low. Also ow many calories have you set yourself each day - you could be eating too little.
Any chance you could be preggers?0 -
I agree with the low protein, up it to at least 50%.0

Thank you so much for the reply. I did raise my protein from the MFP settings, but I lift weights, so I'm sure I'm building a lot of muscles. So, maybe it's not high enough?0 -
You shouldn't deprive yourself. Just make the cat food fit your goals. Everything in moderation.0

Is it in jelly or gravy? If jelly, you're missing fat. If gravy, you're missing salt.0
-
Oh my goodness - I hope you're not preggars if you're eating cat food.
But yeah - it's probably a protein deficiency. Make sure you log it (it's already in the database, just sayin' - so you're not alone).0 -

That is such good advice. Last year I was constantly craving raw meat. Now I like my steak rare but this was cravings ALL THE TIME. I started eating jelly and a tub of icecream after dinner to increase my fat intake and - BAM! - the cravings went away. It did mean I put on 14lbs in two months but it was so worth it to get rid of the cravings.0 -

You're probably pregnant. I'm 4 1/2 months along, and I know that whenever I open a can of cat food, that sweet, sweet aroma of tuna fish and ground animal parts does me in every time; I just have to lick the spoon.0

Cat food is in the database. Seriously?! Wow. That....I'm not sure if I'm really impressed with MFP now or else just baffled!0 -

It's no different from sausages really. In fact cat food probably has more meat in0 -

Okay, I feel better now. It is tough to keep it moderate.
But, it's high quality meat based cat food, it's not like it's friskies or anything. That would be gross.0
