Pop tarts...and cats

Everyone knows I love Pop tarts and eat them (almost) daily. My cat has recently taken after my habit. I'm not sure if I should discourage such behavior or not? I don't want to be hypocritical, but I don't know if there's a possible issue with this? Do cats metabolize differently?

If that is your cat, yes, there is a problem.

Just don't let him get hold of the Garlic Parmesan Onion PopTarts. Onion and garlic are toxic to cats.

Chocolate is toxic for cats also. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theobromine_poisoning

    cats can develop wheat allergies.

Halo- "Protein, not carbohydrates, should comprise the majority of every cat's diet, however, many cats appear to benefit from a small amount of carbohydrates in their diet." " These same grains often lead to blood sugar spikes and hormonal signals that have long-term detrimental effects on metabolism. Many feel the use of excess amounts of refined grains have contributed to the pet obesity epidemic in the United States. "

as for the rest of the pop tart, as with people, moderation is key. ;)

I've always said Poptarts are not fit for human consumption. They should be fine for cats though.

The question is, after your cat starts eating daily poptarts, would your cat have more calories if you needed to consume him in a time of need?!

He's partial to Brown Sugar Cinnamon, frosted... which is good because if he was on my Red Velvet we'd have real problems.
