Has anyone ever put their cat on a cleanse?

My cat has been throwing up a lot of hairballs lately - way more than normal. I'm thinking of putting him on a cleanse to get the toxins out of his system. I've heard a lot on here about the Master Clease, but I don't know if I can convince my cat to drink something with cayenne in it? Maybe if I replace the maple syrup with tuna water? Would that make it ineffective? Also - I may have to make him a completely outdoor cat during this process, because I don't want a lot of loose kitty poo in the house.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I would really appreciate your input. No haters, please - my cat needs help.

The only thing you need to remember is that it is Grade B maple syrup, lemon juice, cayenne and salt. If you use regular maple syrup your cat won't get enough nutrients0

I would try brushing him first!0

do toxins stick to furballs?0

Canned tuna is not acceptable for a cleanse. There are toxins in it from the can. You have to get fresh tuna and juice it.0

I'm pretty sure the furballs are how cats eliminate toxins. But since so much cat food is processed now you can't assume that your cat is going to be able to eliminate the toxins without help from you.0 -

That's not very supportive of the OP's cat's journey.0 -
I'm pretty sure you would have to keep him outside, cleanses really create some poo. Could you imagine the smell?0

I thought furballs were a cat's natural way of getting rid of toxins?0

Sometimes people are so mean. I love that you are trying to do what's best for your cat, backed by thoughtful research.0 -
If you are concerned, please take your cat to the vet first.
Please don't try putting your cat on a detox diet like the master cleanse unless the vet says it is okay. I have been on the master cleanse and cannot imagine it would be good for a cat.0 -
I dropped mine in a bath of water once...................does that count? :laugh:0

In to follow. I desperately need to do something for poor Jabba <----0

Hairballs are Nature's way of saying, "Shave me!" Egyptian cats never had such disgusting problems.0

I can't imagine it's good for people, either. But whatever...0 -
My cat sometimes goes on a vomit binge. Wet catfood so the cat can easily keep it down. I suggest milk if the water isn't staying down, either - though that might not be good either. Putting out ice cold water is sometimes more refreshing for a cat.
Cleanses are not nesscary. They are overpriced and will make your wallet, not your cat, lighter.0 -
Have you considered that the purging as a body image issue and your cat is actually bulimic? Then a cleanse would be the wrong approach. Consult a cat shrink before commencing any cleanse.0

OMG - I never thought of that. :noway:0 -
You have to use grade B tuna juice. It has more dolphin parts in it. That's the real secret to the cleanse but they couldn't just sell canned dolphin at the store.0

So those cat food companies that offer hairball forumlas are just making money off of these poor cats and their eating disorders? So sad.0 -
Cats don't like citrus and probably won't even sniff that concoction.
How about a coffee enema? It might keep him from sleeping all day, too. It's so annoying that they want to sleep when I want them to be awake.0 -
