I would like to purchase something to track my caloires burned and am confused by all the choices. I am not sure why i would purchase one over the other (fitbit vs polar HRM FT4). I have read that some people use both together (why??) Any insight to me making an informed decison would be welcomed! Thanks

I use fitbit all day and use to HRM during workouts.
Fitbit only counts steps (via moment), so it doesn't work very well while exercising, i.e it will barely register anything if you are cycling. The HRM reads your heart rate to work out how many calories you burn during your workout, therefore probably more accurate. That being said, when I'm on the cross trainer, fitbit and my Polar FT7 usually have close results (calorie wise) however last night I did "Insanity" and the fitbit read much lower.
ETA: If I were to pick one over the other I would pick the HRM because workouts are where you burn the most calories and you want to get them right.0
