I was looking for tips on what to eat for the next little while, and what type of workouts to do if you have gained an extra 5 pounds from poor eating choices, and want to get rid of it again.

Any tips , advice or work out suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

just eat normally. you don't gain 5 pounds of fat overnight or even overweek. it's just water weight from the extra food. and if a little bit of extra food is letting you hold 5 lbs of additional water, then you may well have been undereating before.

Eat normally, work out normally, and don't restrict anything

Yeah, that's what I do. I joined here with less than 5 pounds to lose. I actually had no goal for weight loss. I was joining to help work on my fitness. So, I have eaten at maintenance and exercised and lifted weights. I've been on maintenance forever actually. Of course sometimes I eat at a small surplus (for a few weeks or a few months) and gain a few pounds. So, I just go back to eating at my maintenance and not slacking on my fitness. You don't need to go on a diet or restrict, if you just have 5 pounds or less to lose. And some of that is normal weight fluctuation, anyway. Sticking to maintenance will bring you back to your usual fitness level. Yo yo dieting is unnecessary and would cause more problems in the long run.

From the title of the thread, I thought this was going to be someone trying to gain weight.

Seeing the scales go up can be a pain. I am just 3 pounds away from my goal and the scales decided to go up 6 pounds and is still there nearly 2 weeks later. I am hoping it will just drop in a week or two.
