What was your turning point?

I was just wondering what the final straw was that made you think "I'm going to make this change and stick to it".

Mine was a concert t-shirt. My friend's mum bought me a medium instead of a large (a large was tight as it was). It wasn't about wanting to fit into that particular shirt, it was just the point where I realised how big I'd got.

How about you?

  • there were several:
    1. The scale reading 346.4 and I was only 19
    2. My liver was messed up after my gall bladder was removed
    3. I always saw EE on the scale
    4. I couldn't see my feet
    5. My mother passed away when I was 15 and she was sick plus morbidly obese

When I stepped on the scale and saw 252 (I'm 5'2) and realized I was now closer to 300 pounds, than 200. For some reason that scared me into action.

For me it was two separate events. First was last June when I did my yearly PT test for a special team I am on. At the weigh in I was 200 even. My scores were barely passing, but passing none the less. In September, we got a new scale, and at 215, I decided that enough was enough. I'm down to 177, and more toned than I think I've ever been. Can't wait for the test this June.
  • Coming back from 6 months travelling for my dad to tell me "Wow! There's a lot more of you to love now!"
He didn't mean it maliciously, but it stuck. I've since then been on a struggle to get to my ideal body. I'm the thinnest I've ever been atm, but I want to get to that nirvana. My housemate is a great inspiration to me. She always knows what I need to do. She's great!

I refuse to have a waist larger than 32". The trousers were becoming increasingly uncomfortable. A colleague who has a lot to use started WeightWatchers and showed me their app so I decided to find my own that was free!
  • Kicked off a roller coaster at 6 flags. Most embarrassing moment ever. My friends didn't laugh which strangely made it worse lol nothing feels worse than people genuinely pitying you

An extremely unflattering photo of me with my then boyfriend. His family framed it and put it in their living room and every time we visited that stupid picture was right there mocking me. LoL

I had to break up with the guy.
