These days, i am studying a lot. After long hours of study, i tend to feel more hungry. Today, i ate like 2 full container of rice with some additional dishes after studying (no workout done yet). Is it normal?? Weight is not an issue. I am worried about body fat. Age: 21, height: 5 feet 4 inches body fat: 21%

I get like that - it's weird! I'll be studying all day and then be absolutely ravenous when I get in... and that's with having a proper lunch. Someone suggested to me to bag up 100cal snacks to have whilst studying so that I'm not super hungry and pig out at the end of the day. Going to give it a go this week... plus, it keeps your mental focus more apparently.

Same here! My theory is it's because the brain burns pure glucose, and drawing on supplies directly is felt more immediately by the insulin/appetite mechanism.

But I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on TV

Oh yeah... that totally happened to me. The brain is in over active mode. During my final comprehensive exams for my PhD., I had to take milk and bagels in during the exam since there was no way I'd be able to concentrate hungry (the exam was 8 hours...). However, when I don't have to think that much, I can go for hours without food and have to remind myself to eat...

The brain does not use significantly more energy while studying than while doing every day stuff. The difference over a day is a few calories. Your brain uses about 20% of your resting metabolism, so for a woman that'd be about 280 calories.

But it is common to be tired or exhausted or hungry after studying.

so much studying to do...I find long lunch breaks 3hours and gym everyday is literally keeping me from crashing or having a mental breakdown....also I found the more I drunk (mango and strawberry tea) the less I actually eat, so I'm living on about 8cups of tea daily and that curves my crazy post revision eating !
just have a cuppa whilst you revise !
