Yesterday i went to gym for the first time after a gap of 3 months and i made a fatal mistake of lifting heavy weights without any kind of warmup excercise and as a result i am having severe muslce soreness all over my body.
I took ibuprofen, put ice and hot water bag but the pain is still persistent.......what should i do to ease the pain ?

Some gentle stretching / yoga, a brisk walk to get the blood flowing, using a foam roller or a hot bath with epsom salts may all help to ease the aches but otherwise it's just a case of giving the muscles time to recover. The aches will probably be at their worst between 24 and 48 hrs post workout then should ease over the following few days.0

Putting epson salts in a hot bath would help as well. When I am really hurting I take naprosyn (Aleve) instead of ibuprofen, it works better for me, but you can't take both of them in the same time period, too hard on your organs. A massage would help too.0

I could barely walk yesterday cause I've just started p90x again. Had a bath in 'muscle soak' salts last night that helped a little. Other than that I just worked through it. On day 3 now and the leg pain is easing slightly. I'm hoping it wont always hurt this much x)0

All the above comments are excellent advice but also remember to get plenty of sleep and eat a balanced diet, get all the nutrition carbs and protein needed and don't forget that after a very intense weight session you will need to give your body time to repair and rebuild, at least 4-5 days, you can do some cardio, but let yourself recover listen to your body or you could overtrain and strain of tear a ligament and be out of action for several weeks. all the best0
