Running shoes for cross training purposes?

I don't strictly do just running. I'm all about strength training with weights and aerobic classes (les mills to be specific)

I know cross trainer shoes are probably best for me but I like nikes range of "running" shoes best.

Would it matter if I got running shoes for cross training purposes??

Also how often should you replace your trainers? I've had mine since last Christmas, going through phases of working out several times a week to sometimes not at all but regardless I use them to walk the dog most days.

Thanks :)

Yes it would matter. Running shoes should not be used for cross training purposes. They were designed for forward movements, so using them for cross training would not be good for your feet and ankles.
