Profiles and Friend Requests

I see a lot of profiles say in order to send a friend request you must type a personal message. It's obvious everyone is on here to get healthy or stay healthy or to lose/maintain weight. What is the point of requiring a message to send a friend request. It's ok to introduce yourself but I feel that denying someone's request cause they didn't type a message is extreme. I'm here to lose weight, 20-30 pounds but I have a problem exercising and I need someone that's gone motivate me and encourage me in a nice or forceful way. I work three jobs so timing is hard but I can do it if I dedicate myself. Everyone feel free to add me or message me. No personal note required for friend requests.
