Health on a budget.

Ok so cutting right to the point....
I have a MAX budget of $130-$150 for groceries every 2 weeks. I am having trouble eating healthy and feeding 2 adults on this budget. Are any of you in a similar position? If so, how do you do it??

Hmmmm, well, there are a few things I try to do to cut some cash from my food total:

-I buy frozen fruit and/or veg. It's usually cheaper frozen and just as nutritious as fresh. Stocking up during sales is ideal.
-I buy bulk beans and rice. These are SUPER cheap and healthy foods. (Plus the two together are a great protein source)

I've actually cut out a lot of meat, it is too expensive. I'll eat fish or eggs instead. I'm loving split pea soup too, it's high in protein and super cheap to make with or without some meat. (Shredded chicken is nice for a treat).

I hope it helps! I'm looking forward to some other ideas from fellow MFP pepes!

Get recipes for meals you can COOK. cut the instant stuff out and the amount of money you spend will go down.

I try to stock up on the items I use to cook regular meals at times they are on sale. It seems the stores generally circulate the sales for these items throughout the month.

Also, I write down all of the meals that I am cooking for the week, and always make a list for all of the items that I will need to make these meals. I find when I do this I usually always spend less not buying "extras" not needed for that week. And always use all leftovers. If I make shredded chicken salsa in the crockpot for dinner then the leftovers are usually enough for mine and my husband's lunch for the next 2 days. It is alot of planning but ends up being cheaper this way, and $$ saved! I'm broke as a joke and always use coupons. Anything helps!
