Shin Splints

Hi There!
I have been plagued with Shin Splints for a while now - on and off for about 6 months maybe.
They go away after rest, but I do enjoy the running part of cardio. Anyone got any good tips for getting rid of them?
They're so horrid!

What helps me is calcium. I take a calcium pill a day and it seems to help get rid of the shin splints. I hope they get better for you.0

I use to get them a lot running in collage and marathon training, I iced them three times a day, 20 minutes per. I placed a towel on the floor, used my toes to pull the towel in then push back out, and also used tension pulling on my feet then pulled back with my feet, sort of reverse calf raises or sit in a chair and with feet flat, heel down, raise your feet up and back down for several minutes to feel a burn on the front of your shin. These were prescribed by my sports medicine doc in college and really worked.0

Try going to a pediatrist (foot doctor). I used to get bad shin splints when I started doing more mileage in my runs. After a visit I discovered the lack of support and type or shoe I was running in were doing more harm than good.0
