So I've finally been besting my fight with acne and skin blemishes and my face looks decent...except for the discolored skin from my old blemishes! It drives me crazy and I don't really wear make up so I don't cover them up with foundation. What do you guys do to get rid of the scars and keep an even skin tone?

I don't know, but I seen something the other day on tv that looked promising. Wish I could remember the name for you! Good luck!

I saw this on TV so don't know how good it will be. It is made by Clinique, dark spot corrector and should reduce age spots, uneven skin tone, etc. Sounds promising so try Clique web site, good luck...

I had skin discoloration from being out in the sun last summer while diving and the dermatologist gave me some bleaching cream to even it back out.

there's this stuff called magiX by avon that i like to use when I don't wear make up. It doesn't stink like sun block and it covers a lot.

If it is in your budget, I would suggest a series of peels. That would get you immediate results and is quite a pampering. There are different types of peels. I can't specifically suggest one without looking at your skin. It depends how deep the scars run into the tissue and how long they have been there.

Look for a Spa that offers treatments done by a Licensed ESTHETICIAN. NOT a stylist who does facials on the side, or a facialist who is not familiar with intensive treatments. Some dermatoligists employ estheticians to do the more extreme peels in the office. TCA peels, Green Peels, those can only be done under a physicians license....but then again, it depends on local state laws. Many estheticians in Michigan do those in their spa illegally, in addition to Botox and other injectables. My point is, be careful.

Meanwhile, GloTherapeutics offers some great exfoliators that you can do at home. Glo is a fantastic product. You may be able to find them in a local skincare center, dermatologist office, medispa, or plastic surgeons office. Its not a product that you will find in a drug store or even in most salons. http://www.glotherapeutics.com/

PM me if you need help deciding what to buy or where to go. Also if you have questions about chosing a therapist or spa. I'm a licensed esthetician, so I have inside information, lol.

Wow, thanks! I hadn't even thought of spas, that could be a good treat for reaching a weight loss goal or something. :D
The blemishes aren't terrible, just some spots are still discolored from something that's been gone for months. I'll look into the suggestions, thanks again!

same here...so frustrating because when u are pale the old rec acne mark can last forever
I would highly rec obagi....clear or retinoid plus obagi blender
You can buy them from truebeauty and if you don't like the products they have a great return policy!

The products are a little pricey but IMO, much less that peels at a spa (not that I have anything against peels..never tried them)

    Good luck
BTW, what products are u using now to fight breakouts

I don't currently use anything special: a Clean and Clear blackhead scrub, Olay pore minimizer, and about once I week I use Proactive's refining mask. I still get the occasional breakout, but it'll just be one blemish instead of a whole gross of them on part of my face.

I'm still battling one here and there....

I would recommend a product with glycolic acid. I used Avon's Anew Advanced Retexturizing Peel, and I found it made my skin look great. I'm thinking about doing another round with it soon. They also have a much less expensive glycolic acid pad in their foot care line though it probably doesn't have the same amount of glycolic acid as their more expensive product.

I recommend philosophy's makeup optional kit, but it's a little pricey - around $78. You might also try Mario Badescu products. You can order online or they carry them at some beauty supply stores such as Ulta. They're fairly reasonably priced and there are several glycolic acid products that should help with old scarring and uneven skin tone. If you fill out their questionnaire, they'll even send you product samples recommended for your skin concerns... for free!

Ah, gycolic, I'll keep an eye out for that. And yeah, it seems like most things like this are going to be expensive, I'm definitely going to do some research and shopping around. Lots of great suggestions! TY!
    Thanks!

I'm still battling random ones too, so I know I could probably be doing more. One thing that doesn't help is I have a terrible habit of resting my hands on my face, so I get them on my jaw line. As far as which one works best, I'm not entirely sure. My other problem used to be that I would get lazy and not regularly wash my face, and then I started paying more attention and bought more products. Like I tried the Proactive kit for awhile and my face Did clear up, but it also Extremely dried out my skin. The revitalizing mask does seem to work though, without the dryness. Same goes for the blackhead scrub: my face seems clearer after I started using it, and I had been using the Olay pore scrub for like 6 months. I will say, I do still get blackheads so it's probably not the best product. Another thing for me to research. :)

Oh, and I looked up the Clinique Spot Corrector, which has great reviews...and a price tag of about $50 for 1 oz! ouch, hehe.

the only good thing is u can try the clinique and if u buy locally bring it back if it doesn't work
I have no shame with buying something and returning it, if it doesn't live up to my expectations

I just love all of the Clinique stuff
I use the acne clarifying lotion once a day and the acne cleansing foam once in a while if I need it. I have the "emergency lotion" as well that you put on if you feel a pimple coming. It really works and my skin looks fantastic.
The price is a bit high but the products are very gentle and last a long time, especially the spot gel, it will last me years.......
Kim is right too, if you don't like something or have a negative reaction you can take it back and get a full refund.

I  Clinique because it's the only brand I know of that's Allergy Tested which means really rigorous testing. All those hypoallergenic brands don't really do much testing at all.
