Help! Injured and trying work with Dr's restrictions!

Options
My neck/upper back is having, well, issues. The doctor has told me no squats, no overhead press, nothing with a barbell and nothing that could "possibly cause strain" on my neck. Dumbbells, however, have been given his blessing (so long as no neck strain). So... good exercises that I can do only with dumbbells and no neck strain that won't bore me to tears?

The only thing I can really think of is curling in the squat rack.

And before you say bodyweight exercises, yes, I have that figured out, but I want my heavy things too.
