What and How to Eat Healthy?

I don't see anywhere on MyFitnessPal where it suggests things you can eat. I don't really know how to eat well, especially on a tight budget and I am not a talented cook. I need help with eating.

Start with lean protein, fruits and veggies. Add whole grains if you're so inclined Set you account up to get your calorie count (I ignore MFP's protein receommendation, though, way too low, imho). You can still have treats, just log them, and kmake sure that you're staying in a deficit.0

I buy the frozen veggies when they go on sale, and chicken as well and steam a batch of the veggies on Sunday night and grill enough chicken for the week. That way I have lunch every day, also make some low calorie soup and switch off chicken and veggies and soup for lunch Spices are now my best friends! Find a spice mix you like and use that on the veggies and chicken. Egg are huge with me too, they are kindof cheap.0

My favorite websites for recipes are skinnytaste.com and hungrygirl.com. Skinnytaste uses whole/fresh foods. Hungry Girl uses more convenience foods.0

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Unfortunately, I hate chicken breasts and fish...blah! And I'm not big on whole grains either except for brown rice. And hubby will not eat whole grains period. He hates them all. He's a picky eater. So unfortunately that doesn't leave much for healthy choices. Vegetables are limited in that hubby will not eat peas, broccoli, eggplant, cauliflower or asparagus. It's just to expensive for me to try to eat different from hubby and he won't budge. I eat a lot of green beans and corn, then I try to fix spinach salads with cucumber too. As far as fruits, I eat lot's of mandarins or cutie's and occasionally bananas. As far as drinks I only drink two cups of coffee a day, then drink about three 16 ounce bottles of water all day with the exception of 8 ozs of V8 Juice a day. I was eating lot's of junk food, pork rinds, candy bars & chips and was eating larger portions, so quit the snacks and trying to eat smaller portions. Hopefully this will make some difference.0

My husband isn't much of a veggie eater. I buy frozen veggies, and take out the portion for me and the kids, or for just me, depending on what it is.
You aren't big on whole grains, but if you start transitioning over to them, I'm sure there will not be an issue. We were a white-only family. Bread, rice, pasta. Now everything is whole wheat and brown. The kids never noticed a difference, and my husband, it took a little while to get him to like it, but he just sucked it up and ate it. Now that's all he eats, and finds white bread not as good as whole wheat his words)
Plan your day in advance, weigh and measure everything, and make it work into your goals. You'll lose weight if you eat at a deficit.
Try different recipes, be creative, be daring!! In my house, everyone eats the same (with the exception of the veggies) and if someone doesn't like it, they eat what they can and then have a small snack later on. I don't cook more than 1 meal for supper. Keep offering, hubby will get on board, or he can make himself a sandwich later.0 -

If he doesn't like the veggies then he doesn't have to eat them. You can either open yourself up to new things or you can stay in the bad rut your in. The only way things change in life is my open yourself up to new experiences. If your husband is unwilling to try to make adjustments for you and try new things then he can make his own meals. Just because his parents created a "picky eater" doesn't mean you have to keep enabling him.0
