Breastfeeding..

Will I gain weight once I have stopped breastfeeding? I started to excersice and eat right once I had my baby in order to lose weight. I have been breastfeeding her and will start weaning in about 2 months.. but I've been thinking, if one supposedly burns 500 cal a day from breastfeeding, will I gain some weight once that stops? Or will I have to work out more? Or worse..will I have to eat less?
Sorry if this is TMI for some of you.

since you are likely eating more to supply the breast milk with nutrience you will likely have to lower how much you are eating OR work out more to burn the calories .... try lowering a bit maybe 250 and working out a bit more an extra 250 a day .... it would balance out this way!0

How old is your baby? The 500 calories is really only for exclusively fed babies, once they start on solids you require far fewer extra calories.
I am hoping that I will be at maintenence once my baby (now 10 weeks) starts reducing feeds. I figure that means I will be able to eat around the same amount (1,800cals I'm on) and I probably wont lose any weight, but hopefully wont put it on! That's my plan
I didn't put weight on when my last baby started to reduce feeds....but I got really sick with a digestive disorder, so it was all different anyway!0 -
How old is baby? How often do you nurse now? If exclusively nursing and then stop you would likely need to adjust your calorie intake or exercise a bit more. If you are only nursing one or twice a day (for an older baby/child) I wouldn't think there would be much to concern yourself with making changes. I nursed long term so when they were weaned, they were only nursing for nap and bedtime. HTH!0

I nurse twice in the morning before work, pump 3 times at work, and depending weather she is awake or asleep when I get home.. I'll nurse or pump one more time before I go to bed. (I work 8-5, school from 5:40-7pm T&T, go to the gym the days I do not go to school). On the weekends though.. I usually breasfeed all day unless we are out or she is at a baby sitters.
I'm hoping that since I pump more than I actually breastfeed, I won't have to change too much of my diet/exercise.0 -

This was me also. I carried around the last 10 lbs of baby fat until after I stopped nursing. Then it came off with no problem. Not sure why...but it happened after both kids.0
